Happiness Repeats Itself
@Taliesin Arts Centre,Swansea University, Singleton Park, Swansea SA2 8PZ
Directed by Sean Tuan John
Performed in a secret magical site in Swansea, Happiness Repeats Itself will take the audience on an emotional and visually arresting journey back in time to the 1950's where the now controversial surgical procedure of lobotomy was performed on thousands of patients around the world. This production promises to be haunting, unique and compelling.
Sean Tuan John is one of Wales' most successful independent directors, who over the last 15 years has been creating dance theatre and film projects that have been screened and performed in festivals around the world. His work fuses idiosyncratic dance, dark humour and excessive acting. It focuses on themes of social commentary, the trash aesthetics of pop culture and psychology.
Unknown Pleasures is a bold venture in modern theatre brought to you by Taliesin Arts Centre and Swansea Metropolitan University. This innovative partnership brings together Wales' finest artists and its best emerging talents to create adventurous new work. Unknown Pleasures aims to nurture and inspire the next generation of theatre performers and spread the tentacles of risk and creativity across Wales and beyond!

Howl
@Taliesin Arts Centre,Swansea University, Singleton Park, Swansea SA2 8PZ
Dir: Rob Epstein, Jeffrey Friedman
USA 2010 1hr 24mins
James Franco, Mary Louise Parker, David Strathairn, Jeff Daniels
Starring James Franco in a career-defining performance as Allen Ginsberg, Howl is the story of how the young poet's seminal work broke down societal barriers in the face of an infamous public obscenity trial. In his famously confessional style, Ginsberg - poet, counter-culture icon, and chronicler of the Beat Generation - recounts the road trips, love affairs, and search for personal liberation that led to Howl,
the most timeless work of his career. Howl interweaves three stories: the unfolding of the landmark 1957 obscenity trial; an imaginative animated ride through the prophetic masterpiece; and a unique portrait of a man who found new ways to express himself,
and in doing so, changed his own life and galvanized a generation.
